Although sports betting continues to be the market with the largest market today, casinos remain. Not too long ago the star game of online casinos , poker, was in the doldrums. Today has changed and both poker and Black Jack and roulette have increased users . In this article I want to talk to you about roulettes, yes, in the plural, because there is not only one kind.

Currently we can find two kinds of roulette , the European and the American . At first they might seem the same but they have subtle differences that it never hurts to know.

How are European and American roulette different?

The European roulette is the most common, not only in Europe but in most online casinos. It is the classic roulette and its origins date back to the 18th century. Regarding the American, it has several notable differences.

For example, the European only has a green box for the number zero. The rest of the boxes are skipped in red and black, all of them numbered from 1 to 36. In this case, European roulette has 37 boxes and the advantage for the house is around 2.6%. This allows us as players to have more chances to win.

With American roulette things change a bit, starting because it is more modern than European roulette . In this case, we can see a subtle difference, it has 38 boxes. This is because it has a green box for the double zero. This makes the house edge double that of European roulette, 5.2%.

In addition, European roulette has a special rule known as “In Prison”. It states that if the player makes a 1: 1 bet and the ball stops at zero, the bet is not lost. The roulette wheel is turned once more and if the player wins, he receives the bet money. In this case the house edge is reduced to 1.35%.
